Burton Contractors is one of Australia’s fastest growing Civil Engineering Contractors. The company was established in 1973 by founder John Burton. In 2006, successful succession planning saw the second generation, Paul and Chris Burton, take ownership of the business. By applying traditional family values and modern civil engineering expertise, Paul and Chris Burton continue to grow the business.
In November 2012, Burton Contractors purchased a Rammer 4099 rock-breaking machine to go on the 349 CAT excavator. The first project worked on was an excavation for Boral’s Maldon cement works. The complex excavation was carried out in solid sandstone alongside a railway line. The parameter of the pit was drilled and later broken in using the 4099.
Burton Contractors regularly hired excavators with rock breakers for various jobs until this project justified the cost of purchasing the machine. The business now feels more confident about pricing large rock-breaking jobs, adding the 4099 to their fleet of over 100 pieces of plant.
Projects Coordinator Doug Carruthers gave a glowing review of the machine and the service provided by Rammer’s Sydney based support team at Ground Tec. Equipment. “Product knowledge and support is very important in our industry and the representative from Ground Tec. Equipment provided ongoing technical backup and superior product knowledge.”
Doug also commented on the “very professional and informative” presentation delivered by the Ground Tec. sales representative.
